Neighborhood Plans are created by participating neighborhood residents and Orem City planning staff. They are developed in harmony with all other plans adopted by the City. The plans communicate the values and interests of neighborhood residents and serve as guidelines for future growth, development, and preservation. Furthermore, they encourage the creation of aesthetically pleasing neighborhoods and public spaces that enhance the community. They also address the needs, concerns, and potential impacts of land use, transportation, economic development, and preservation of neighborhoods.
Participating early helps cities plan with people instead of “surprising” citizens with plans they may not like. There will always be some discomfort and disagreement, but if we as neighbors can have early discussions with each other and city staff many outright conflicts can be avoided. You can find the drafts of the Orem/Sharon/Hillcrest and Stonewood/Lakeridge plans on Orem City’s website at https://orem.org/planning/ under the “Current Planning (Public Hearing Notices)” section in “Recent Notices.” This tab will take you to a DropBox folder with the neighborhood plans.
