The other day, a great opinion piece was posted on Bicycle Times magazine. The main concept of it was that cars rarely give back as much as we put into them. But a bicycle, that's totally different.
I liked this paragraph the most: "Bikes do nothing but give back. They open your eyes to the world around you. New people, places and experiences by bike are without a doubt some of the best connections you can make. The simplest things can become so fascinating with a bike as an integral part of your life." Last fall, the Coalition hosted a small Mobile Active Transportation Tour (MATT). The purpose of a MATT is to help get city officials and other interested parties out on the road to see the conditions and get an idea for the bike-ability and walk-ability of the city. We were lucky to take a ride with Orem City's Long Range Planner Christian. Christian is already a big bicycle advocate, but we enjoyed the ride and a good lunch at Which Witch.
Mad Dog Cycles hosted the support truck and helped keep our bicycles safe while we ate. Overall it was a great ride, and we want to plan another one soon to hopefully get more people on a tour. |
